My Night at the Knoxville Symphony!

Last Friday night, Michael and I had the wonderful pleasure of attending the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra's performance of 'Shakespeare In Love'. This was our second time to see the KSO and I was thoroughly thrilled!

The performance features selections by MacDowell - 'Hamlet and Ophelia', Tchaikovsky - 'Romeo and Juliet' , and Mendelssohn - 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
I enjoyed all of the music, but my favorite by far was 'Romeo and Juliet'! I could literally see the scenes playing out before me with the beautiful music. I had chills and goosebumps and even a couple of tears. I don't think I have ever been so moved by a piece of music. It amazes me how music can completely tell a story full of emotion with nothing but sheet music and musicians.
The Mendelssohn "A Midsummer Night's Dream' featured actors from The Clarence Brown Theatre. They were extremely talented and I enjoyed watching them. I particularly enjoyed Carol Mayo Jenkins who played Titania. She really brought the interpretation to life for me.
As I mentioned before, this is the second time we have been to the symphony. I am becoming a big fan of Lucas Richman , the conductor. I love how he executes the music and the way he interacts with the audience. I am thrilled that I have had opportunities to see the KSO and I look forward to seeing them many, many more times. I would encourage anyone that lives here or is visiting to make sure that they take in a performance - It is well worth it!
