"I have no objection to saying Happy Holidays...happy holy days. Christmas is indeed a holy day. Maybe some think it is politically incorrect to use the word Christmas. I hope not. I would hate to think Hanukkah or Kwanza were off limits as socially acceptable words. I love hearing about people's cherished traditions and holy days. I don't assume everyone celebrates Christmas, so if I'm addressing a group of people I'm happy to wish them happy holy days. The word that keeps jumping out at me in this post is 'happy'. I do wish you happy holiday, whatever your holy days are. For me, Christmas is coming..."
Recently, my cousin, Judy Beglau posted these words on Facebook. I feel that it perfectly explains how I feel this time of year. This should be a time of embracing each other and unity - not a time to be concerned with being "Politically Correct". Holiday Greetings should not make us feel like we are in a competition to say something correctly. I just wanted to share these words...perhaps it will open some eyes and soften some hearts.
