One year ago today.....I remember it like it was yesterday - I was coming around the corner , finishing up my walk with Zeke and Zoe and I saw this chocolate lab sitting patiently on my lawn. When I came home, I told Mike about the new visitor and we went down to investigate. There, sitting patiently before us was a sad, beaten down creature pleading for help with mournful eyes. I will not go into the details of his condition - it's heartbreaking - but Mike and I decided to take him in. We realized this meant he would be ours and Mike asked me what we should call him. I looked down and said "Zeus - he needs a strong name." The next day, we took him to the vet and started him on his treatment to help his recovery. The treatment was so extensive and our schedules were so busy, we decided to take him to Katy to stay at our trainer's house until he was recovered. We knew they could give him the attention he needed to get better.
A couple of months later, Zeus came back to us looking like a totally different dog! He no longer hung his head - he held it with great self esteem - he ran and played and proved to be a gentle giant. He has the most beautiful coat and is quite the athlete! And when I look into his golden eyes, my heart melts! I love Zeke and Zoe for their own attributes, but Zeus is truly grateful. We think he knows what we rescued him from and shows us his gratitude every day! He is such a gentleman when I am descending the stairs - he waits for me! And he guards me at night when I am by myself by sleeping between me and the front door. I love my Zeus Zeus so much! And I am so happy that one year ago today, he came into our lives! Happy Anniversary Zeus!
