There is nothing wrong with being the best dressed woman in the room!

** MY INTERNET HAS BEEN DOWN WHICH MEANS I AM WAY BEHIND ON WORK - SO HERE IS ANOTHER "OLDIE BUT GOODIE" THAT I WROTE THIS PAST SUMMER! ENJOY!

Often, throughout the course of my sales day at work, I will use certain phrases to help women choose thier purchases. One of my recent favorites has been, "There's nothing wrong with being the Best Dressed Woman in the Room!" ( I borrowed this from "What Not to Wear".)

I find that in the casual area I live in, it is often hard to know how to dress for occasions. When I lived in Houston, we had terms such as: " After Five", "Business Casual", "Cocktail", "Black Tie", etc... If I was invited to an event and saw one of these terms on the invitation, I knew what was expected of me......down here, it is a different story. The ladies have made up thier own terminology..." Rockport Casual" is a favorite which is used quite often. What does it mean, you ask? I have no idea. It is so frustrating, because I don't think anyone else really knows what it means either. Do I dress up? Do I not? Do I wear a dress with Flip Flops? Heels with Capri? HELP!

So the phrase "There is nothing wrong with being the Best Dressed Woman in the Room" has been coming into play quite often. It seemed to be working as far has the ladies having a breakthrough on what to wear to local functions.

And then it was my turn. I was invited to a function this past weekend and was informed that it was " 'Cocktail-ish', but wear whatever you want". WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?????? What is this "ISH" business? What is "wear whatever you want"? So, before the madness ensued, I put my foot down and pulled out the old standard LBD - Little Black Dress. I wore a black, strapless cocktail dress, strappy rhinestone sandals, a purpley-gray pashmina and awesome fuchsia agate necklace and earrings. My lipstick and nailpolish matched my necklace perfectly! When I arrived, I KNEW I looked beautiful! What an awesome feeling! I floated the entire evening with self confidence and had many wonderful conversations with fantastic people! I was dressed in a classic way, not provocatively. The attention I commanded was not negative in any fashion. I commanded attention by pouring out how beautiful I was feeling on the inside. I felt like I was glowing! I think I was!

Even if I wasn't the best dressed woman in the room ( but I was!), I felt like I was and you know what? It felt damn good! The overall euphoric feeling is still with me and I still feel great from 3 days ago!

So listen up ladies...THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BEING THE BEST DRESSED WOMAN IN THE ROOM!

Like it, Love it, Live it!
